Come to Ground to Anchor Yourself

Grounding yourself is the most important daily exercise you can do for your energetic self and your mental well-being. Especially now, when energetic frequencies and social uncertainties and fears are rising.

Grounding anchors your energy, reduces anxiety, increases feelings of stability and it helps you to manifest, bringing your desires into form.

Being grounded connects you to the Earth’s magnetic energy.

It may seem counterintuitive to focus on attachment to the ground, especially when we are working on raising our frequency to reach higher states of consciousness. Like an electrical circuit, your ‘ground’ provides a path for excess energy to flow, preventing surges and spikes, and a magnetic connection to keep you firmly and energetically connected to the earth. 

When you are grounded, your energy can stretch upward and lift, yet you maintain your connection to your “earthly human” reality.

Think of your energy like a helium balloon. Without a tether, it floats away, lost. 

Grounding is the key to stability, which is needed now more than ever in today’s chaotic world. Let’s look at five practical techniques to get grounded.

Five Ways to Get To Ground

1. Nourish with Warm Foods

Start with the basics. Eating warm foods, particularly root vegetables, helps ground your energy. These foods come from the earth, activating your root chakra and providing a sense of stability. Next time you’re feeling ungrounded, try a warm meal to bring your energy back to center.

2. Hydrate with Water

Water is a powerful grounding agent. After a deep hypnosis session, I always recommend my clients drink water before leaving. If you’re feeling ungrounded, especially before driving, have a glass of water. For a more intense grounding experience, take a bath or go swimming. Immersing yourself in water can bring your energy systems back into alignment.

3. Visualize Energy Flow

A simple meditation can work wonders. Close your eyes and imagine a light flowing from the top of your head to the soles of your feet. Let this energy move through you, like the roots of a tree, stretching deep into the earth’s core. This visualization can ground your energy, even in a busy environment.

4. Use a Grounding Image

Close your eyes and ask your higher self for a grounding image. It could be a tree, an animal, or water. Visualize this image at your hip level and expand it outward.  Now imagine that image going down below you, into an anchoring cord and stretch that cord all the way down to the center of the earth.  Imagine anchoring that grounding cord to the center of the earth.

I change up my image almost daily to keep it fun.  One day it the ocean, and the ocean floor creates the grounding cord.  Another day it’s a mermaid, and the mermaid tail pulls down to the center of the earth.  Have fun with it!

5. Shift the Room

Grounding helps you, and it can also transforms the energy around you.  That means when you’re grounded, you can influence the energy in a room, helping others feel more stable.  This is where you have the ability to save the room!

When you find yourself in a chaotic place, or a place where the energy is ‘off’, focus on your grounding image and the connection down to the center of the Earth, and then EXPAND that grounding image out beyond your body into the whole room or space you would like to shift.

Whether at a chaotic mall, a difficult work meeting or at family gathering, focus on  expanding your grounding and you’ll notice the energy shift for the whole room.

Grounding as a Tool for Healing

Once you have your grounding in place, you can use it to release excess or difficult energies and unwanted/overwhelming emotions out of your body. With intention, you can connect with what you want to release and send it down your ground.

Ground to Manifest

Manifesting, or bringing your desires into physical form, uses magnetics. When you desire something, you send out a vibration.  Through aligned vibration you will magnetically draw in what you desire into your physical world.

Magnetics requires that you are grounded to the earth. Being firmly connected magnetically to the earth is key to  actualizing your desires. If you are having trouble manifesting, creating or completing projects, ensure you are grounded. When you’re firmly connected to the earth, you can draw in the energy needed to achieve your goals.

Make grounding a daily practice. Start your day by grounding before your feet even touch the ground. Ground yourself in chaotic environments or when around emotional people to maintain your stability.

Grounding can significantly reduce anxiety by bringing your energy back to a balanced state. It helps you stay present and connected to the earth, reducing the floaty ‘untethered’ feeling associated with anxiety.

How do I know if I am grounded?

You will know you are grounded by how you feel.  Check in on your emotional stability, clear thinking, good self-awareness, ability to manage stress, and if you have a strong sense of self, connection to your daily life and present moment.
